MAR 200 Introduction to Marine Science
Course Description
This course is intended as a broad introduction to Marine Science that will serve as a foundation for more advanced coursework in one or more of the oceanographic disciplines. This course is multidisciplinary and will foster an appreciation for the complexity of the marine environment. Students will be expected to think critically about the underlying principles of earth's phenomena (e.g., ocean circulation, tides, nutrient and gas cycles, etc.), and their interactions with marine life. Students will leave this course with an enhanced knowledge of oceanic processes, the diversity of marine ecosystems, and the increasing pressures of anthropogenic influences on these systems.

BIO 242 Introduction to Environmental Science and Policy
Course Description
The course covers many of the most threatening environmental problems facing society. When possible, these issues are discussed at local, national and global levels to demonstrate how policy and cultural differences impact the various threats to the environment and the human population. Environmental threats are discussed both in the context of their impact on natural ecosystmes and their potential threat to human health and economic growth. THis course may be used as an elective for marine science-biology and biology major,
